Black Friday and Thank You!

I know I'm a little late on the "what are you thankful for" so I will just say thank you to all of you that I love. I am grateful to have all of you in my life and for the ability to give me perspective in my life. I love you all.

Thanksgiving was wonderful. The Wolf's Den did a wonderful job again this year for the meal. We all lost on the bar slots. Bill was winning but we were tired of waiting for him He did win $10. I forgot.

Boys all went out hunting until noon. Dad saw a doe but that was it. Cole's getting buck fever. Mom,Clay and I did go and stimulate the economy today. I got a couple of gifts done. I love this time of year. Kids are all watching Wall*E and it's quiet for a little while. Have a great weekend.

Not to bad for a Monday!

Cole has his football wrap up tonight and is getting his division 6 championship medal.
I got a call about 12:30 telling me that Kyle got his first deer. (see www.seniorreport.blogspot.com) for pictures.
Clay had an awsome day.
Bill and I are so proud of all the boys.
Not to shabby for a Monday.

Now I usually don't chime in to often about the political workings on my blog however I do need to say that the Government does need to bail out the big 3 and for these reasons. By not providing the money to save the factory jobs we will loose not only those jobs related directly with the manufacturing of the vehicles but those also involved with providing the paint, rubber, tires, belts, filters, printed material, dealerships, service centers, fiberglass, research and development of new technology to increase the efficiency of our cars. This bail out is deeper than just the plants. Look in WI and see the factories that have closed, look and the dealerships that have went under just in our area. Think about the filter factory and foundry in Waupaca that all have ties to the automotive industry. This also affects the industrial vehicles that these companies make as well. If this industry is allowed to go under we loose a lot more than $20 billion.

Artsy, Lazy weekend

Laundry's done, kids are playing, life is good. I'm going to the high school play(s) (2-1 act) tonight. I'm meeting Deb for the movie tomorrow afternoon. I hope the movie is as good as the book. I keep seeing the previews and can't wait. I jump every time the phone rings hoping it's the mighty hunter telling me he got one. I just hope they have fun.

Friday Follies

Well Kyle's off today to Grandma and Grandpa's where he feels he will be spoiled. I'd like to say this won't happen but I know differently. He's just vibrating he's so excited about going hunting tomorrow morning. I asked him if he would feel bad about not seeing or getting a deer this season and he said no he was just happy he didn't have to go to school next week. Well I guess there's always a bright side.

Cole's not sure what he's doing for hunting. We've all got this rotten cold and he's been at school late every night doing sound for the play. He needs a good nights sleep. He'll probably wait until next weekend to go just so he can recover. He's not to upset about having to go to school next week. Mr. Social.

Clay's going to be lonesome for Kyle next week. He says he won't but he looks for him everyday when he gets home.

Bill and I both have been helping with the sets because the gentleman that did them before is the teacher who recently had a stroke. We will be attending the play I think Sat. night. I will be going to see Twilight probably Sun. Our midnight showing was sold out. Who let's their teenage girl stay out that late on a school night.

Have a good weekend and hopefully we will all have deer tales to tell. Good luck Tim, Troy, and Al.

Who said life was going to slow down?

Boy I thought after football was done with all three boys life would get back to normal. We could actually all have supper together. WRONG! Cole is doing sound for the play this weekend. Bill and I were asked to make a magic mirror. Which did turn out pretty cool if I do say so. Cole has joined the bowling league and is bowling every Tues after school. Kyle is in Destination Imagination which meets every Tues for 2 hours and then there's Clay who feels he should be just as busy as the other two.

I got some Christmas presents made. I can't show them to you yet. That's as far as I've gotten. Oh well there's still 3 weeks until I have to be ready for round 1. Kids aren't saying much this year. Clay's testing the waters to see if Santa is real. Great last one to believe. I forget sometimes he's a 3rd grader already.

Kyle's getting excited about this weekend. He's starting to get things ready to hunting. I asked him if I had to worry about him freaking out if he got a deer, he hesitated then said No, well probably but I'll be with Grandpa so don't worry. OK lots of reassurance there. Grandpa will have to stop laughing at him first. 20 of the 60 kids in his class are going hunting and most of those won't be in school next week. (Boys and Girls) His one teachers so excited about this he cancelled the test and gave everyone an A. It's the most kids he's ever had hunt. He's a big hunter too.

It's good to be a parent

Let me just say there were times when I questioned if we did the right thing by sending our kids to Catholic schools. However today was not one of them. One of Cole's teachers (he teaches tech ed. Computer drafting and stage design) recently had a stroke because his cancer has spread all over. The kids found out that the insurance is willing to cover only 70% because they feel this is pre existing. The Kids not the parents organized a benefit for this teacher. They have already raised close to $5000 before this. They had a spaghetti dinner, bake sale, silent auction and basket sale. 3 bands donated their time and talents. I give the kids credit. Cole was there since 9:50am it started at 11:30. They had so many kids working they were sending them away. The teacher got out of the hospital for a day pass and he looks pretty good with all things considering. Bill started to approach him and he grabbed him right away. This type of event makes me proud to be a part of this community. I just wish there was something more we could do.

Sad ending to a great season!

Well folks it over. Edgar beat Pacelli 14-0. Pacelli didn't let them score the entire 2nd half. Both teams were pretty evenly matched defensively. Cole had a great game but as always during playoffs there were tears. He caused 2 fumbles and had several really good tackles. They are considered Divisional Region 6 champions. I would have loved to see them go on to state however part of me is glad it's all over. I can't wait to see the final stats sheets to see how many tackles and sacks he got this year. I can rest now until April when track and baseball start.

Andy's 10!

Happy Birthday Andy! Hope you had fun at Kalahari!

Let's GO Pacelli!

Well tonights the night. We face Edgar in the semi-finals. I'm so nervous. Cole had to be at school today at 10:30 for brunch. At noon they did a walk thru and then they got some free time. They all have to be back today at 3 to start getting ready. I hope they do it. I hate the play offs because every game ends with some big boys in tears. Coach is starting all seniors again but Cole will get in about the 2nd or third play. More updates tomorrow. Hopefully I will be able to say we have 1 more game.

Explanation Needed

Ok as many of you may have seen the wonderful pic. with my mouth open, this deserves an explanation. I was asked by my son and friends if I would get the crowd going during the game since our fans are really quiet. I mean overly quiet. So I was down in the stands cheering "Let's go Red!" I am usually fairly quiet these days in the stands. I do get excited but this time I was obnoxiously loud. I did get the fans cheering though. And to answer your question No we don't have cheerleaders. Hey we won the game! By the way several of my so called "Friends" have e-mailed me the picture with a lot of LOL's after.

The boys are getting ready for the game. Home is actually pretty quiet. The last two nights we've been playing Monopoly. Not good with Cole. He's beaten us both times. I don't quite understand how he does it.

Teacher conferences are this week. I think I missed Clays. I had the day and time screwed up. Oh well I'll reschedule. Kyle's was pretty positive and Cole doesn't think I need to go see any of his. That just means I need to go see all.

Monday

Well after a wonderful weekend of marital bliss I am finally calm enough to write.
Cole was upset after Sat. game when he got home. I asked him what was wrong. He went to Taco Bell afterwards to get something to eat and the whole Coleman team was there. Let me back up a minute. During the game about the fourth quarter a Coleman running back went down after a tackle. He was unable to put weight on his leg and everyone was thinking it was his ACL. Now back to present. Cole saw this player and asked him how he was. He said he thought he broke his ankle and fractured a couple of ribs. Some of you can see where this is going. It was Cole who tackled him and took him out. What a terrible way to end a great game. I guess when I tell him to hit 'em hard, hit 'em low and make them remember you in the morning he took it to heart. Cole feels terrible.

I didn't make it to Milwaukee on Sunday and Bill slept on the couch for the first time in 19 years of marriage. Let's just say I'm not as important as the rest of his social circle and leave it at that.

Kyle and Clay had a wonderful weekend. Clay stayed wrapped up in a blanket all day on Sunday and Kyle went out and shot the gun. He really likes it and was 1 inch away from a bulls eye.

Well on to the start of another week. We play Friday night in Wausau hope and cheer we win then the kids are on to state the following Thurs. Edgar said they would like a Friday game so that it gives them one more day to prepare for state. Got to get past us first boys.

We did it! On to Level 4

Well I can finally breathe. Pacelli won 35-6 against Coleman. Now this sounds like a huge score but Coleman scored first and kept us on our toes until the 3rd quarter. Cole had a good game. He and Nathan got the quarterback as he started throwing the ball and caused an interception to another of their good friends. Boy did they celebrate. I was a little afraid of the coaches. They were all getting excited and jumping about I thought someone was going to break a hip or stroke out. It's good to be a coach's wife. I was up in a warm booth with lots of good snacks we all brought. Well the next game is either Fri or Sat at a neutral site. We're hoping for DC Everest in Wausau. We just have to wait and see who wins the Edgar and Clear Lake game. Chances are good it's Edgar but we're hoping it Clear Lake.

The picture above is from last game. Cole had just got a huge tackle and was celebrating with Dad (or Grandpa for whoever is reading this.)

Busy, Exciting Weekend ahead!

Well the butterflies are flying and the nerves are about shot. I hope the boys pull it off tomorrow then the fun begins. The boys are excited and ready to win! I hope and pray they do it without major injuries tomorrow. I'll be sure to be looking for Coleman players with a certain name on them. The coaches wives will be in the booth tomorrow if it's cold. We are all bringing things to snack on. After the game we are going to Coach Steve's for a party. I need to be home early so I can sleep to make it to Milwaukee Sunday morning to walk away arthritis. So as always wear RED and WHITE and root for the home team!

Ain't Democracy Great!

Well 2 of the 3 schools the kids go to voted for Obama. Kyle's voted McCain. I was impressed with both speeches last night and it even appeared John got a little upset when the crowd booed. I only wish Joe was standing with Barack during his speech. It would have seemed more real to me. I thought Barack's speech addressed everyone and this morning things didn't seem so heavy. I just pray he can lead this country back to the positive not only here but throughout the world. It will be nice to have some class back in the house.

Cole's at the Jr. retreat in Chippewa Falls today. He had to make sure the shirt he wore was tight enough to show off his muscles. Oh brother. Kyle's at DI tonight and Clay just left for his friends. Bill's getting ready to go for practice. Life in the Rogers' household.

VOTE! "08!

Well I did my civic duty and voted. What happens now we'll just have to wait and see. Let's just hope the country isn't as stupid as it has been for the past 8 years. Reader's Digest did a poll and asked the world leaders who they would like to see as the next President of the United States and Barack won! Go figure! At 2 o'clock there were already over 2000 people in my township that voted. Amazing! Let's hope this over soon so I can get some sleep tonight. I don't really want a nail biter.

On to Level 3!

I will have an ulcer before this is all over. All day long I feel sick and have butterflies. The begining of the game made me even a more nervous wreck because Wild Rose scored first and with great ease. That's where is ended. The first quarter was 7-7. We then came back and won 42-20. The last two opposing TD's occured when our Freshman were in. Cole had a great game and even had a wonderful QB sack. Unfortunately another team mate got announced for it but Cole did get credit for it on the team stats sheet, per my on field spy aka Dad. Dad did a wonderful job on the field again. I just always worry he'll get tackled. He went to the end zone to catch an extra point ball and didn't realize until it was over it was Cole. After the game one of the families had a party for all the team and parents. They own Michelle's restraunt so it was a wonderful place to have it. A lot of parents who don't normally go out after the game showed up so that was nice.

The down side to the game was that one of older (80) fans got assulted by the other team. We were told during the game by the kids that the fans were terrible. This gentleman and his family were sitting on the opposite side of the fields because it is more convient for this man to use. He is a very quiet man and does not have anyone playing on the team until next year. The kids went over to visit him and the fans were nasty to them then. This poor man was knocked down several times and ended up dislocating his shoulder. What was wrong with these people and no one tried to stop the attack. At the party the kids were telling us things the fans were saying to them. Come on! it's highschool football.

We also had a Halloween scare on Friday night. We heard a ton of sirens and then the flight for life 'copter go over our house. It was shining it's search lights in our yard looking for a place to land. Now this all seems pretty exciting except for the fact it happened at 11:41 at night and Cole was on his way home. Heart attack city. Bill calls him on his phone to find out where he was and we get "WHAT! I'm coming home now!" Ok pretty hard to be upset with the kids when you know he's ok. Cole got to the 4-way stop sign by our house and the road was blocked he asked permision to go through and told the police where he lived. The Police told him he better not go past there or they would come after him. There was an accident down the road from us where a 27 year old guy hit a tree driving to fast and was drunk. A couple of minutes later and he could have met Cole down the road. Let's just say lots of prayers were said.
